Little Steps is very thankful to not have had any positive COVID-19 results, our staff and parents are doing a wonderful job taking precautions! We have also been careful, alert, and prepared (as much as we can be in these circumstances) in each step that we have taken and cannot thank you all enough for your support.
With all of that said, we want to clarify a few things to make sure that everyone is on the same page, in the event that someone did test positive.
If anyone (Parent, child, or staff) tests positive for COVID-19, we would need to dismiss students and staff for 2-5 days. We would then be coordinating with local health officials in order to determine a course of action for our facility. This short term dismissal allows the local health officials to help us determine whether an extended dismissal duration is needed to stop or slow further spread of COVID-19.
Any close contacts to a case of COVID-19 during the time they are considered contagious will be required to quarantine at home for 14 days after their last contact with the case
Children and staff WILL be excluded from childcare if they have:
- Any one (1) of the following
Fever - or -
Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing - or -
Loss of taste or smell - or -
Any two (2) of the following:
Sore throat - and/or -
Muscle aches - and/or
Chills - and/or -
New or Worsening cough
Parents, if your child is exhibiting any of these symptoms, please DO NOT allow them to attend. Little Steps has been continuously monitoring children for the above symptoms, but we can never have too many hands on deck when it comes to caring for our children. With that said, we ask all parents to do their best to work with us in monitoring your child's health/any differences in behavior.
Children and staff excluded for the above symptoms will not be allowed to return until they have either tested negative for COVID-19 or a medical evaluation determines their symptoms more likely due to another cause (e.g. sore throat due to strep throat). In this later case, the individual can return when they meet criteria for that condition.
If parents or staff have been told they were a close contact to a case of COVID-19 outside of the child care facility and have to complete a quarantine period, a note of clearance from their quarantine will be needed in order to return to the facility.
If the child or staff member lives in the same household as the case, they will have to quarantine an additional seven (7) days after the date their household member has been cleared form their isolation period.
As always, if you have any questions or concerns, we are more than happy to help!
